Enhanced Hygiene and Health Benefits
Disease Prevention: Regular use of the Messer Stall Plow Bedding Extractor plays a pivotal role in preventing the spread of diseases among livestock. Cleaning contaminated bedding reduces the risk of infections, including mastitis in dairy cows, a common issue affecting milk production and quality. The cleaner environment limits the exposure of animals to harmful pathogens, promoting a healthier herd.
Improved Animal Comfort: Comfortable bedding is essential for the welfare of livestock, particularly dairy cows that spend significant time lying down. The Messer Stall Plow ensures that the bedding is not only clean but also evenly spread and aerated. This improves the animals’ comfort levels, which can lead to better rest, higher milk yields, and overall improved animal welfare.
Air Quality Improvement: The removal of soiled bedding also contributes to better air quality within the barn. Ammonia and other noxious gases can accumulate in poorly maintained bedding, posing health risks to animals and farm workers. The Stall Plow’s efficient cleaning process helps maintain a fresher, healthier air environment.
Parasite and Pest Control: Keeping the bedding clean helps control parasites and pests, such as flies and mites, which thrive in dirty, moist environments. Regular removal of contaminated bedding disrupts the lifecycle of these pests, contributing to a more hygienic environment.
Stress Reduction: A clean, comfortable living environment reduces stress among livestock. Stress compromises the immune system, making animals more susceptible to diseases. The Messer Stall Plow helps maintain a calm and stress-free atmosphere for the livestock by ensuring a consistently clean environment.
Optimal Bedding Management: The Bedding Extractor’s design allows for precise control and adjustment, ensuring that the bedding is managed optimally without excessive waste. This conserves bedding materials and ensures that the animals have a clean, comfortable surface at all times, further enhancing their well-being.

We use sand bedding in the stalls of our dairies. A well-managed sand bedding stall is a “gold standard” when it comes to cow comfort and mastitis control. There is a lot of thought and hard work that goes into this process to ensure it is well-managed. Choosing the right type of sand to go into our stalls. Keeping the sand clean by removing manure from the stalls and the alleys multiple times a day. Keeping the sand dry by ensuring the proper depth of sand in each stall. Removing sand mounds with an attachment like this Stall Plow, since mounded areas can reduce cow comfort.
Comfortable cows are happy & healthy cows!

W.O.W. This stall plow beats the other auger style version out on the market! The Messer Stall Plow is so simple and easy to use. Just hook it up to your skid steer, set it for your stalls and start plowing!! Couple of passes the first time to get out the hard sand that hadn’t been done in years, but once we broke thru the first layers the rest came out fast and easy! The design is so simple and very easy to us. I would 10 out of 10 reccomend this bedding extractor to any dairy farm with deep beeded sand stalls. We will be cleaning out our stalls more often now that we have found the right attachment to save us hours and hours of labor.

We purchased this stall plow in August of 2016 and love it! We use in several times a year to remove sand from one of our barns and also in another barn to remove deep bedded green manure solids. We have 660 stalls in sand and about 850 stalls in green manure. This attachment makes the job easy and fast. So simple to use. Would definitely recommend it!!

Why didn’t I think of getting one of these a long time ago!?
This is just another small piece of the puzzle when it comes to ensuring high milk quality and comfortable cows. The discarded sand will eventually be hauled back out to the field.
Seeing how this went so well we’ll probably be doing it every month now just to be safe.
See how well it worked!
